Claim – 1. A tree sawing machine comprising a carriage including side beams, a frame vertically disposed upon the side beams and having side bars and upper and lower bars, diagonally extending braces within the frame engaging the side bars and upper and lower bars, a shaft extending vertically in the frame and journalled in the upper and lower bars, a bracket having an inner section pivotally mounted upon said shaft, an outer section, a shaft pivotally connecting the inner and outer sections, a saw shaft carried by the outer section, means for transmitting rotary movement from the shaft of said frame to the second-mentioned shaft, and means for transmitting rotary movement from the second-mentioned shaft to the saw carrying shaft.

3. A tree sawing machine comprising a carriage including a vertically disposed frame, a driving shaft rotatably carried by the frame, a bracket having an inner section pivotally connected with the frame by said shaft, an outer section, a driven shaft pivotally connecting the outer section with the inner section of the bracket and rotated from said driving shaft, a saw carrying shaft rotatably and slidably connected with the outer bracket section, means for vertically adjusting the position of the saw carrying shaft, and means for transmitting rotary movement from the driven shaft to the saw carrying shaft comprising a pulley carried by the driven shaft, an elongated pulley carried by the saw shaft, and a belt passing about said pulleys.

4 A tree sawing machine comprising a carriage including a vertical frame, a driving shaft carried by the frame, a bracket pivotally connected with the frame and having an inner section and an outer section pivotally connected with the outer section, a saw carrying shaft rotatably and slidably connected with the outer bracket section, a sleeve loose upon the saw carrying shaft, abutment collars carried by the shaft above and below the sleeve, a latch lever connected with the outer bracket section and including an arm having loose connection with said sleeve, and means for transmitting rotary movement to the saw carrying shaft.
