Claim.—In combination with an automobile of steering mechanism of the character described, comprising a shaft in co-operation with the steering column of the said automobile, an auxiliary collar positioned on the upper terminal of the said steering column, a pinion on the upper terminal of the said shaft, a slidable rack positioned in a casing and meshing with said pinion, a handle on the said rack, a bracket integral with the said casing for attachment to the dashboard of the said automobile, substantially as described.
