Description: What I claim is:

1. A Grain Door for railroad cars or the like comprising a door slidable laterally within grooves, the lower groove bring provided with rollers and the upper groove being in the form of a slidable rail with means for securing the said rail both across the door opening and clear of the opening, a rack and pinion means for opening and closing the door laterally within the said grooves, and means for controlling the position of the door relative to the door opening, all substantially as described.
