Propeller (Patent No: 231689)

Inventor: Jackson, Robert Cattley

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description: What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by letters patent, is:-

1. The combination with a propeller, of the application of one or more fins, ribs, or vanes upon and across each blade of the said propeller, which said fins ribs or vanes project substantially perpendicularly to the driving face of the said blades and are of such shape as to form channels there between across the said driving blades which channels are in the form of venae contractae.
2. In combination with a propeller means for cutting, and controlling the flow of the medium in which it rotates, such means consisting of one or more fins rubs or vanes projecting substantially perpendicularly to the driving faces of the propeller blades and so shaped and arranged that they will form channels on such driving faces substantially in the form of venae contractae.
3. In combination with a propeller, means for inducing a differential velocity of flow of the medium across the face of the propeller blades such means consisting of one or more fins rubs or vanes projecting substantially perpendicularly from the driving faces of each of the propeller blades and forming channels thereon substantially in the form of venae contractae along which the medium passes thereby producing uniformity of torque or turning moment in the propeller.
