Claim.—1. The combination, in a cattle guard, of a plurality of triangular sectioned cross ties grouped closely together transversely to the railway track and affording a means of support for the said track.
2. The combination in a cattle guard of a plurality of triangular sectioned cross ties grouped closely parallel to each other, and placed transversely to the railway track, notches cut in each tie member affording a seat for the bottom rail flanges, the said notches being splayed on one side to give clearance for spiking the rail down.
3. The combination in a cattle guard of a plurality of cross ties substantially of the section shown, grouped closely parallel to each other and placed transversely to the railway track, notches cut in the upper apices of the said ties forming a flat seat for the bottom rail flanges cross fences between the railway main fences and the track, and wing fences parallel to the track, all substantially as specified and for the purpose set forth.
