Inventor: Blaser, Paul (inventor)

Location: Rosevear

Comments: N/A

Description:
Claims:-

1. In a device of the character described, comprising an internal combustion engine having a crank shaft mounted therein, gears associated with said crank shaft, a counter shaft in parallel relation thereto, corresponding gears on said counter shaft engaging the aforementioned gears, said counter shaft ~indirectly connected to the propeller shaft of an aeroplane and means engaging and disengaging said gear from said crank shaft.

2. In a device of the character described comprising an internal combustion engine having a crank shaft mounted therein, gears associated with said crank shaft, a counter shaft in parallel relation thereto, corresponding gears on said counter shaft engaging the aforementioned gears, said counter shaft indirectly connected to the propeller shaft of an aeroplane, a gear shift lever, a gear shift rod pivotally connected thereto, means connecting said gear shift rod to the first mentioned gears to move the same into or out of engagement with the crank abaft.

3. In a device of the character described, comprising an aeroplane engine having a crank shaft associated therewith, two enlarged hubs formed thereon having splines constructed on half the length thereof, two gears mounted on said hubs having means to engage said splines, means to move the same laterally on said hubs to engage or disengage said splines, said means being operable by a. gear lever, secondary gears slidably mounted on a counter shaft in parallel relation to said crank shaft, a propeller shaft independently mounted in the aeroplane, said counter shaft connected thereto by suitable gears and a gear chain to transmit the rotary motion from the engine through said gears and counter shaft and said propeller shaft, substantially as set forth.
