Description: Simon Fred Scott, Medicine Hat, and William Robert Halpenny, Calgary, assignee of half of the interest, both in Alberta, Canada, 18th March, 1930. Filed 5th June, 1928. Serial No. 337,901.

Claim.—1. A machine for treating grain comprising a cylinder with openings at both ends, a rotatably supported drive shaft provided with spaced slots, extending through the cylinder and protruding therebeyond, means for operating said shaft from without the cylinder to rotate the cylinder, a fixedly mounted feed hopper and a fixedly mounted discharge hopper communicating at opposite ends with the cylinder, a powder box associated with the feed hopper, an agitator for the powder box, and mechanism comprising a member eccentrically mounted on the drive shaft, a crank arm operatively connected to said member and to the agitator whereby on the drive shaft and the cylinder being rotated, an oscillatory movement is simultaneously imparted to the agitator,

2. In a device of the character described, the combination with a drum member and a rotatable shaft rigidly connected thereto, of a powder box communicating with the drum member, an eccentrically mounted member on the drive shaft, an agitator in the powder box, and a crank arm operatively connected to said member and to the agitator.
