What I claim is-
1. An opening and closing mechanism, for doors, windows, or the like, comprising a pivot rod mounted horizontally across a door and projecting beyond the aides thereof, vertical guides in which the ends of the said rod are engaged, cables connecting the said rod to a balance weight means for tilting the head of the door inwardly combined with means for raising the pivot rod and carry the door upward in the said guides, and means for returning the pivot rod to the bottom of the guides and return the door to the closed position, all substantially as described.
2. An opening and closing mechanism, for doors, windows, or the like, comprising a pivot rod with a lifting cable connected eccentrically thereto, the said pivot rod carrying a window or door, a guide arm mounted between the frame and the door or window, combined means for turning the door upon the pivot and raising the said pivot in guides and means for lowering the said pivot to return the door to the closed position within the frame, all substantially as described.
