Churn (Patent No: 301102)

Inventor: Haslett, Alice F.

Location: Enilda

Comments: N/A

Description: Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-

1. A churn including a body; a cover firmly supported on said body; means for clamping said cover in position; means for forming an air-tight and liquid-tight connection between said cover and said churn; body; a shaft rotatably mounted in bearings in said cover and, in the bottom of said churn body; cover retaining means being in the form of curved spring clamps extending over the edge of said cover; a series of offset agitating bars; supporting arms for said bars extended radially from said shaft; and a handle removably mounted on said shaft.

2. A churn including a churn body; a dasher including a shaft supported vertically for rotation within said body; upper and lower pairs of bars extended radially from said shaft and crossing one another at their central portions on said shaft; a series of spaced vertical agitator bars carried by said pairs of radial extending bars; the vertical agitator bars of each set being offset from the agitator bars carried by the adjacent positioned pairs of bars extended radially from said shaft; said radially extended bars being of different lengths; all of said agitator bars being of rectangular form in cross section and spaced so that one bar is at the outer end of each pair of radial bars and all of the sharp vertical edges of said agitator bars are extended transversely and longitudinally of said radially extended bars; supporting bearings for said shaft carried at the bottom of said body and at the centre of the cover for said body; spring clamping members extending over diametrically opposite portions of said cover to resiliently retain the latter in firm engagement with said body; means to co-operate with said spring clamping members for preventing turning of said cover on said body; and operating means for said shaft.
