Description: Burton Stafford Fox, Banff, Alberta, Canada, 8th July, 1930. Filed 26th July. 1929. Serial No. 353,500.

Claim.—1. A method of headlighting comprising in combination with a parabolic reflector of an electric lamp composed of a bulb having supported therein a central filament adjacent to the focus of said reflector, an offset filament on each side of said central filament, the offset filaments being on a plane above said central filament and a means for independently controlling the energization of each of said filaments.

2. A method of headlighting comprising in combination with a parabolic reflector of an electric lamp composed of a bulb having supported therein a central filament adjacent to the focus of said reflector, an offset filament on each side of said central filament, the offset filaments being on a plane above said central filament, one of said offset filaments being at a greater spaced distance from said central filament than the other of said offset filaments and a means for independently controlling the energization of each of said filaments.

3. A method of headlighting comprising in combination with a pair of parabolic reflectors of an etiectric lamp in each of said reflectors, each lamp comprising a bulb having supported therein a central filament adjacent to the focus of its respective reflector, an offset filament on each side of said central filament, the offset filaments being on a plane above said» central filament, the outer of said offset filaments in each of said lamps being at a greater spaced distance from its respective central filament than the inner of said offset filaments, a means for independently controlling the energization of said central filaments and a means for independently controlling the energization of pairs of offset filaments comprising the outer offset filament in one reflector and the inner offset filament in the other reflector.
