Friction Drive (Patent No: 304341)

Inventor: Hutton, Lionel Alfred Bennett

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description: Lionel Alfred Bennett Hutton, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 30th September, 1930. Filed 2nd December, 1929. Serial No. 358,236.

Claim.—3. In a friction drive, a driven member formed with beveled frictional contact surfaces, a driving member including two disc members mounted on a shaft and axially movable thereon, said discs being formed with beveled frictional contact surfaces adapted to coincide with the beveled frictional contact surfaces of the driven member. And magnetic means for axially moving said discs on the shaft to obtain a frictional driving pressure between the surfaces of the driving and driven member.

4. In a friction drive, a driven member and a driving member adapted to rotate at relatively different speeds, said driving member including two disc members mounted on a shaft and axially movable thereon, and magnetic means for axially moving said discs on the shaft to obtain a frictional driving pressure between the surfaces of the driving and driven member.

5. In a friction drive, a driven member formed with beveled frictional contact surfaces, a hollow drive shaft, a driving member including a pair of axially movable discs keyed on said shaft and formed with beveled frictional contact surfaces coinciding with the surfaces on the driven member, means for normally retaining said discs from engagement with the driven member, and magnetic means for contacting the surfaces of the driving and driven members in frictional driving engagement.

Claims allowed, 12.
