Inventor: James, Alfred Location: Red Deer Comments: steam & diesel engineer; retired to Vancouver; RDA Description:
WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION 1S:-
1. A bag fastener comprising a retaining member, a chain attached at one end to the retaining member, a passageway provided in the retaining member in the form of a substantially upstanding integral channel housing, a locking member adjacent the channel housing, and means in connection with the locking member for receiving and retaining the chain in locked position around the object to which it has been applied.
2. The device as claimed in Claim 1 in which the locking member comprises a pivoted plate formed with a recess adapted to receive the chain.
3. A bag fastener comprising a retaining member, extensions formed on each end of the retaining member, a chain anchored to one extension and provided at its opposite end with a slotting pin, a passageway provided in the retaining member in the form of a substantially upstanding channel housing formed on the retaining member between the extensions, a pivotally mounted locking member adjacent the housing, said locking member being provided with a recess adapted to receive and retain the chain around an object to which it has been applied.
4. A bag fastener comprising a retaining member, extensions formed on each end of the retaining member, a chain anchored to one extension and provided at its opposite end with a slotting pin, a passageway provided in the retaining member in the form of an integral upstanding channel housing with the retaining member between said extensions, lugs formed on the retaining member adjacent the housing, and a locking member pivotally mounted between the lugs provided with a recess therein adapted to receive and retain the chain around an object to which it has been applied.
5. A bag fastener comprising a horizontal retaining member, a chain attached at one end of the retaining member, a passageway formed in the retaining member intermediate the length thereof, the sides of said passageway extending at right angles to said retaining member, and locking means adjacent one end of said passageway for retaining the chain in locked position around an object to which it has been applied.
6. The invention according to Claim 5 in which the locking means comprises lugs formed on the retaining member adjacent one end of the passageway, and a locking member pivotally mounted between the lugs provided with a recess therein to receive and retain the chain when in operative position.
