Claim.—1. In a platform scaffold, an upright, a vertically extended band secured upon the upright, a crosspiece having one end thereof engaged in the upper end of the band above said upright, and means to tighten the crosspiece in the band to hold the parts in position.
2. In a platform scaffold an upright, a band secured upon the upright, and a tightening device carried by the upper end of the band.
3. In a platform scaffold an upright, a vertically extending band secured upon the upright, a tightening plate located at the upper end of the band, and a tightening screw having a threaded engagement through the upper end of the band and engaged with the tightening plate.
4. In a platform scaffold an upright, a vertically projecting band having an adjustable engagement upon the upright, means to hold the band in given position of adjustment upon the upright, and a tightening device at the upper end of the band.
5. In platform scaffold an upright, a vertically ####ing band having an adjustable engagement upon ##### right, a horizontal band secured upon the same of the vertical band, means to tighten the vertical band upon the upright to hold the parts in given position of adjustments and a tightening device carried by the upper end at the vertical band.
