What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by letters patent, is:

A stair tread protecting device comprising a metallic frame formed with opened panels, said panels adapted to securely hold a protecting material against the tread, said frame having its inner sides beveled inwardly and upwardly, one outer side thereof being formed with a downward curved edge adapted to fit over and around the tread nosing, and suitable means for securing the frame to the tread.
