Oil and Gas Supply Regulator (Patent No: 430880)

Inventor: Lish, Calvin T.

Location: Turner Valley

Comments: N/A

Description: -CLAIMS-

Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in The Patent Act,l935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows-

1. An oil and gas regulator of the type described, comprising in combination a flanged part-tubular device having a tubular body member, an axially perpendicular chamber in enclosing combination with said tubular body member, a closure plate sealing the top circular opening of said chamber, a rotable flow-regulating member of arcuate shape, a central spindle attached to said flow-regulating member and passing bearably through said closure plate, an exterior handle for turning said regulator member, and orifices of varying sizes in the closure skirt of said regulating member for controlling the passage of oil and/or gas in differing specific quantities through said tubular body member.

2. All as in claim 1 and having a pressure pipe within the said body member and a pressure pipe without the said body member chamber-enclosed portion, one on each side of the said flow-regulating member to gauge pressure differences therebetween.

3. An oil and/or gas supply regulator as described comprising a tubular body member having a partly enclosing flanged circular chamber axially perpendicular thereto and integral therewith, a plate for closing the top opening of said chamber a seating gasket between said plate and the flanged edge of said chamber, an arcuate gate member rotable within said body member and said chamber in a slidable manner in said chamber, an arcuate skirt integral with said gate member having orifice therein of differing diameters to permit varying flow of oil or gas through said body member, means to rotably manipulate said gate member to shut off or deliver oil or gas through said body member, and visible means by markings to indicate, on the top of said cover plate, the relative changeable positions of said orifices within the device.

4. An oil and gas supply regulator as described, comprising a tubular body member disposed in a supply line, a circular chamber enclosing the middle portion of said body member and forming a part thereof for containing an arcuately operable flow regulating and flow shut off gate, varying sized orifices in and through said gate member for the passage of varying quantities of gas and/or oil therethrough, screwable means to retain and to lock in position said gate member relative to the stationary portions of the device, spindle and exterior handle means to rotate said gate member for the regulation of flow through the device, a pointer on the end of said handle to register with specific markings on the exterior of the device to show the orifice positions, and a stuffing gland to seal said spindle in its bearings.

5. All as in claim 4 and having a wedge shaped arcuately disposed slot in said body member wall to receive the wedge shaped bottom edge of said gate member in sealable manner, and having means to springably assist in separating said wedge shaped gate member from said wedge shaped trough when so desired.
