The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:-
1. The method of manufacturing open deck flooring or stair treads which consists of passing flat strap iron strips between two inwardly rotating fluted rollers geared together to ensure that a ridge of one roller coincides with a flute of the other roller; assembling the strap iron strips thus formed in rows parallel as to their mean longitudinal axes with points of contact at points of tangency on respective curves on adjacent iron strips; welding together the said iron strips at the said points of contact; welding flat strap iron strips about the perimeter of the flooring unit or stair tread thus formed.
2. A stair tread or open deck flooring unit comprising a series of waved strap iron strips assembled in parallel as to their mean longitudinal axes and touching each other at the points of tangency of their respective waves; the said points of contact welded together; the assembly thus formed enclosed by a suitable frame.
