1. In a sewing machine attachment for serging and overcastting edges of cloth, a pair of laterally reciprocating and rotatable wheels provided with teeth for operation upon a margin of the edge of said cloth and rubber bands for operation upon the very edge of said cloth, spring urged means to supply gripping pressure for said teeth upon said cloth, a work-plate, an aperture in said work-plate, located between said wheels, to permit the cloth feed of the sewing machine to feed said cloth, means for tensing said cloth between said wheels and with said wheels.

2. In a sewing machine attachment for serging and overcastting edges of cloth, a first rotatable wheel provided with teeth to grip said cloth marginally from its edge and a rubber band to press upon the very edge of said cloth for operation upon said cloth in front of the cloth feed of the sewing machine, a second similar wheel for operation upon said cloth behind said cloth feed, hinged arms connecting said wheels to a laterally recipro-cable slide bar, adjustable springs connected to said arms to transmit downward pressure to said wheels, a work-plate, an aperture in said work-plate to permit said cloth feed to feed said cloth, means, actuated by contact of said teeth of said first wheel with the forward travel of said cloth, for tensing said cloth between said wheels and with said wheels in preparation for lateral movements at intervals when both the needle and the feed dog of the sewing machine are substantially disengaged from said cloth.
