In an animal trap having a base with a pair of spaced bails mounted pivotally thereto and a single bail mounted pivotally to the base opposedly to the pair of bails to operate between the pair of bails and resilient means arranged to urge the bails upwardly about their pivotal mountings; trigger means adapted to hold releasably the bails in the set position, such trigger means including a ball engaging hook and trip arm, the trip arm being arranged to disengage the bail engaging hook when moved in an upward direction with respect to the said base and a stop connecting the spaced bails at a point remote from their pivotal mounting to the base for limiting movement of the single bail between the pair of bails.
