Inventor: Watt, Alexander (assignor)

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description: 531,963

Issued October 16, 1956

Cable Overthrow Loader for Tractors

Alexander Wall, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, assignor to George A. Robinson, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Application June 14, 1947, Serial No. 560,562 5 Claims

1. A cable operated overthrow loader which comprises a scoop attached to vertically pivotable arms, an overhead cable sheave supporting frame and a chute adapted to receive the contents of the scoop when the jib arms are in a substantially vertical position, the jib arms, frame and chute being carried on the unsprung parts of a vehicle chassis, and the frame being supported therefrom by two supports on each side, one being V-shaped and pivotally attached for limited pivotal movement in a longitudinal plane at its lower end to said chassis and rigidly attached at the upper ends of its arms near the forward and rearward extremities of said frame, and the other being a pillar and beam member, said pillar being pivotally attached for limited pivotal movement in a longitudinal plane at its lower end to the chassis at a point spaced forwardly of the attachment thereto of the V-shaped member, and at its upper end to the said beam member which is in turn attached to pivot in transverse relation to a cross-piece of the frame.

2. A cable operated overthrow loader including a chassis and equipped with springs which comprises a scoop attached to vertically rotatable jib arms, and an overhead cable sheave supporting frame, and in which both said jib arms and said frame are carried by the vehicle chassis below said springs, and said frame has at least two supports on each side pivoted for limited movement in a longitudinal plane at different points on the chassis and of differing radial lengths, the first of said supports of the cable sheave supporting frame on each side being a member pivoted to the chassis at its lower end, and having its upper end attached to the frame, the second of said supports of the cable sheave supporting frame being a beam member transversely pivotally connected to a forward cross-piece of the frame and to the chassis.

4. An overthrow loader as defined in claim 2, in which said second support of the cable sheave supporting frame comprises at least one pillar at each side of said frame pivotally connected at the lower end to the vehicle chassis, and at the other end to the respective outer end of said beam member and said beam member is pivotally connected substantially at its centre to said forward cross-piece of the frame.

5. In a mobile cable operated overthrow loader including a chassis and equipped with springs, an overhead cable sheave supporting frame carried on each side of the vehicle on at least two supports pivoted at different points on the vehicle chassis below the chassis springs for longitudinal movement of said frame in relation to said vehicle, said supports being of differing radial lengths, one of said supports for the said frame on each side comprising a pillar pivotally attached at its upper end to a beam member for transverse movement in relation to said vehicle, said beam member being pivotally attached to a cross member of said frame transverse pivotal movement in relation to said vehicle
