Variable Colored Light Projector (Patent No: 645698)

Inventor: Wrenshall, Charles M.

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description:
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

(1) A projector for variable colored light beams comprising in combination with a source of power, an enclosure, a source of light in said enclosure and a beam aperture at one end thereof, a plurality of multi-color producing discs journalled for rotation by said source of power, in spaced and parallel relationship between said source of light and said beam aperture, said discs lying perpendicular to the associated beam of light passing from said source of light and out of said beam aperture, means to rotate each of said discs at a speed different to the speed of the other of said discs, whereby an infinite variety of relative positions of the two discs is obtained, said means including the perimeter of said discs being grooved, and a drive belt extending around said perimeters and being operatively connected to said source of power.

(2) The device according to Claim 1 which includes a stationary diffraction grid situated in the path of emitted light but on the side of said discs remote from said source of light.

(3) The device according to Claim 1 which includes a rotatable stationary diffraction grid situated in the path of emitted light but on the side of said discs remote from said source of light.

(4) The device according to Claim 1 in which each of said discs comprises two discs of transparent material secured together with sectors of semi-translucent color producing material sandwiched therebetween, adjacent sectors producing different colors.

(5) The device according to Claim 2 in which each of said discs comprises two discs of transparent material secured together with sectors of semi-translucent color producing material sandwiched therebetween, adjacent sectors producing different colors.

(6) The device according to Claim 3 in which each of said discs comprises two discs of transparent material secured together with sectors of semi-translucent color producing material sandwiched therebetween, adjacent sectors producing different colors.

(7) The device according to Claim 3 which includes a rotatable diffraction grid situated on the side of said discs remote from said source of light, said grid comprising a further pair of discs of transparent material secured together with a diffraction grating sandwiched therebetween, said discs being journalled for rotation in alignment, with said first mentioned discs and by the same source of power.

(8) The device according to Claim 1 which includes a stationary diffraction grid, said grid comprising a plate of opaque material and a plurality of apertures therein thereby producing said grid, said plate being secured adjacent said beam aperture.
