Claim.—In a phonograph, the combination with a rotating record support carrying a suitable circular metallic contact piece revolving concentrically therewith, a travelling needle co-acting with the groove of the record, an electric motor, and a pair of main line terminals, of a motor circuit extending from such terminals, a shunt circuit extending from the motor circuit and adapted to be closed by the contact of the travelling needle with the revolving circular metallic contact aforesaid, an electro-magnetic circuit breaker operated by such shunt circuit to break the motor circuit when contact between the travelling needle and the revolving metallic contact piece is made, as and for the purpose specified.
