Golf is enjoyed across the province. Golf was historically governed by the Alberta Golf Association and the Alberta Ladies Golf Association, which tried to merge in the 1920s, but they were unsuccessful. In the mid-1990s the associations worked on a merger that came into place in 2000 when the Alberta Golf Association included both of the earlier associations. Alberta has been the host to LPGA tour events.

Alberta has been a strong contributor to curling in Canada. The strength of curling in Canada can be seen in successes like the 27 wins of the Canadian men’s teams since the World Championships were held for the first time in 1959. In 2002, 2003, and 2005 Alberta’s team, led by Randy Ferbey and with David Nedohin, Scott Pfeifer, and Marcel Rocque, won the Ford World Men's Curling Championship.

Alberta's long winters are made tolerable, even fun, with participation in winter sports. Ice skating is popular amongst all age groups. The strength of figure skating in Alberta is evident in the successes of Olympian skaters like Kurt Browning and Jamie Salé and David Pelletier. Speed skating in Alberta has particularly flourished since the gold-medal success of Catriona Le May Doan in the Olympics.
