Organization Name: VoicePrint Canada
Organization Mission Statement: To partner with others to provide services and products that assist print-restricted Canadians reduce or overcome barriers to media and print information
Organization Focus: VoicePrint, now celebrating its 15th anniversary, is a strong national, nonprofit organization with a vibrant Alberta presence. This specialty multi-media network broadcasts -- on cable, satellite and the Internet -- current international, national, regional and local news to the 3.2 million Canadians (and more than 354,000 Albertans) who cannot independently access printed materials, such as newspapers and magazines, due to blindness, low vision or a wide range of physical and learning disabilities. VoicePrint relies on its hundreds of volunteers (over 300 in Alberta alone) in our day-to-day program offerings. Our volunteers: read articles from daily, weekly and monthly publications; help out in program production and database management; help organize fundraising events; and assist in training and coaching. VoicePrint readily acknowledges the contributions of all our volunteers and we strive to treat them as part of our family. Our volunteers include current and former broadcasters, politicians,Premier Ralph Klein, ex-teachers and accountants, the former head of the CNIB, lawyers, stay-at-home moms and dads, librarians, sales executives, students, actors, retirees – people like you who want to make a difference.
